The Green Line Aura hybrid
will offer a 164-hp 2.4 liter four-cylinder gasoline
engine coupled with an electric motor, however, the Aura
hybrid will not be able to function on electric power
only and is considered a mild hybrid.
Still, GM claims the
new hybrid Aura will offer 20 to 25 percent better fuel
economy that a standard Aura, while costing just less
than $2,500.00 more than a conventional Aura. Thus, the
Aura hybrid should start around $23,000.
The Aura showed well at
both the the LA and Detroit Auto Shows and is expected
to be a big seller with its good looks and a much
improved 'Saturn-interior'.
GM has not yet stated how many
Aura hybrids it will put into
the market in 2007.
